Jodie is the first person most of our clients will talk to. She is a lifelong resident of Port Washington. She has a bachelor's degree in Business and Human Resources. Both of her grandmothers had Alzheimer's, and she was the caregiver for her grandmother, Dorothy. She understands on a very personal level what our families are going through.
DD is our official Greeter Dog. She is the second greeter dog we have had in our office. DD is an Australian Shepherd. She is a Super Senior, 8 years old when Carol adopted her. She enjoys greeting clients and being petted. She loves playing in the snow and chasing rabbits.
Jessica is a partner with Wessels & Liebau and joined the firm in 2016. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, a board member of the Elder Law and Special Needs Planning Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and the Editor of the Elder Law and Special Needs Planning Journal of Wisconsin. She concentrates her practice in elder law, estate planning, guardianship, and special needs planning. Click here for more information.
Kathy manages the finances of our firm, handling the billing and bookeeping.
She has over 20 years of legal experience as an office manager, administrative assistant and bookeeper.
Sunny (or "Summer") was a wonderful, sweet Border Collie that Carol adopted as a senior dog from the Wisconsin Humane Society - Ozaukee Campus. She was a "founding member" of the firm. Sunny made clients feel at home and comfortable. Sunny went to the Rainbow Bridge on January 16, 2017 after a (thankfully) short battle with liver disease. Sally is our Paralegal. She is our primary contact person for clients, and she prepares many documents related to our court proceedings, special needs trusts, estate plans and Medicaid applications. Sally is a graduate of Northwestern University, and has over 30 years of legal experience.
Carol J. Wessels is the founder of Wessels & Liebau. She has been practicing elder law since 1991. She is the Past Chairperson of the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and Past Chairperson of the Elder Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin. Our client service objectives are to provide you with high quality legal services, in a way that is easy to understand and use.
We do not speak Legalese at Wessels & Liebau. We don't set out to impress you with big words and difficult concepts. Our field of law is complicated enough with a mixture of federal and state laws, administrative regulations, and ever changing policies. We want to help you understand the rules. So we talk like normal people. If you have a question, ask us.
